Diagnosis:
A subspecies corresponding in many ways to
C. similis similis
in the outline of the basic carapace shape; in general somewhat larger and more extended [stretched] than it. On the upper posterior margin (in the region of the valve margin indentation in Form b) a broad node-like swelling, either one on each valve (in which case usually more strongly developed on the smaller left valve) or only on the left valve.
