Lichen globiferus
Linnaeus
,
Systema Naturae
, ed. 12, 2
: 713;
Mantissa Plantarum
: 133. 1767
,
nom. illeg.
"Habitat in Tingitana. Pluk. in Anglia. Dill. Stenbrohult Smolandiae. Filius." RCN: 8241.
Replaced synonym:
Lichen globosus
Huds. (1762)
.
Lectotype
(Wedin in
Pl. Syst. Evol.
187: 230. 1993): [icon] "
Coralloides cupressiforme, capitulis globosis
" in Dillenius, Hist. Musc.: 117, t. 17, f. 35. 1741. - Voucher:
Herb. Dillenius (
OXF
)
.
Current name:
Sphaerophorus globosus
(Huds.) Vain.
(
Sphaerophoraceae
).
Note:
Linnaeus explicitly cited as a synonym the validly published
Lichen globosus
Huds. (1762) in
Syst. Nat.
ed. 12, but not in the
Mantissa
account. This was overlooked by
Jorgensen
& al. (in
Bot. J. Linn. Soc.
115: 318, 377, f. 36. 1994), who accepted
Howe's
typification (in
Bull. Torrey Bot.
Club'i
9: 201. 1912) using 1273.251 (LINN). However,
Linnaeus'
name must be homotypic with that of Hudson, which has been typified by Wedin (in
Pl. Syst. Evol.
187: 230-231. 1993).
