Subtidal to deepwater, 10–50 m , possibly 100 m (McLaughlin et al., 2007); associated with anemones. Remarks. Cassidy (2005) expressed the belief that previous Philippine records of D. dearmatus by Estampador (1937 , 1959 ) and Yap-Chiongco (1938) actually refer to D. gemmatus , but did not explain the reason for his opinion.
