Two species are recognized from Trinidad , one of which has been studied as a potential biological control agent of the weed Clidemia hirta (Melastomataceae) , a neotropical shrub introduced and invasive in various areas of the Old World tropics including Hawai’i ( Waterhouse & Norris 1987 ). Druentica species are considered to be specialized on Melastomataceae ( Herbin 2016 ) .
