Catanopsobius chilensis was based on specimens collected in rotting wood at Temuco, Cautín Province, Araucania Region, Chile. At an adult length of 3 mm , this species may be the smallest lithobiomorph and the small size may account for the reduction in spiracles to pairs only on segments 3 and 10.
