Distribution.
South Korea
(new record), South of the Russian Far East (Khabarovsk reg., Primorskiy reg.).
Biology.
Flight period in May to June. Reared from
Xyela alpigena
(Strobl) (Xyelidae)
on
Pinus cembra
L. (
Pinaceae
) in
Austria
(Khalaim & Blank 2011).
Remarks.
In the review of the Palaearctic fauna of
Gelanes
(Khalaim, 2002)
one specimen with shorter ovipositor was described as forma “curticauda”. We re-examined this specimen and propose that it actually belongs to a new species, described below as
G. provectus
sp. nov.
