Colossendeis bicincta is a large (adult body length ca 25 mm ), rarely-recorded species with a characteristic, bulbous proboscis. Previous records are from the eastern Pacific (Gulf of California, Mexico , Colombia , Panama ), the Lau Basin and the north-east Atlantic (Bay of Biscay and Porcupine Abyssal Plain), at depths between 280 and 4850 m , normally deeper than 1900 m . It has not been recorded in the Melanesian region before.
