Etymology
. The specific name is a noun in apposition that refers to the
type
locality of the
holotype

Diagnosis
. Males of
Scytodes mangabeiras
n.sp.
are distinguished from those of the remaining Neotropical
Scytodes
by the prolateral, slightly dorsal, curved laminar projection (
Fig. 45
) and by the retrolateral sclerotized process, slightly curved prolaterally (
Figs. 46–47
).
Description
. Male (
Holotype
, IBSP 36487). Carapace orange with dark brown pattern as shown on
Fig. 44
. Chelicerae orange with median longitudinal brown stripe. Pedipalps orange with brown dorsal and prolateral brown longitudinal stripes. Labium orange with dark brown margins. Endites pale yellow. Sternum pale yellow with scattered brown spots. Legs orange. Femora and tibiae I–IV with a pair of ventral parallel black stripes. Abdomen gray with black marks on posterior half (

). Total length 4.1. Carapace slightly domed, 2.2 long, 1.7 wide. Eye diameters: PME 0.14, ALE 0.14, PLE 0.14. Lateral eyes on a tubercle. Chelicerae with subapical hyaline keel and inconspicuous stridulatory ridges. Labium 0.14 long, 0.22 wide. Sternum 1.18 long, 0.90 wide. Leg measurements: I: femur 4.4, patella 0.6, tibia 4.9, metatarsus 6.0, tarsus 0.7, total 16.6; II: 3.3, 0.5, 3.3, 3.9, 0.6, 11.6; III: 1.9, 0.5, 1.8, 2.2, 0.6, 7.0; IV: 3.1, 0.6, 2.9, 3.2, 0.6, 10.4. Palpal femur with short and small stridulatory pick with rounded and slightly projected socket. Cymbium with single strong distal spine (
Fig. 45
). Bulb 0.44 long, medially constricted and slightly bent. Distal region with prolateral, slightly dorsal, curved laminar process (
Fig. 45
) and strong sclerotized, retrolateral process, slightly curved prolaterally (
Figs. 46–47
). Abdomen 1.9 long, 1.5 wide, covered with short, slender hairs.
Female unknown.
Variation
. Three males: total length 3.7–4.1; carapace 1.9–2.2; femur 4.4–4.8; bulb 0.36–0.60.
Distribution
. Cerrado. Known from northern and central Minas Gerais.
