Notes:—
Chaetochlamys rusbyi
was described by Lindau, based on
two specimens
(
Rusby 1117
&
O. Kuntze s.n
.) collected from two different localities of
Bolivia
. Thus, they are
syntypes
according to Art. 9.6 of ICN (Turland
et al.
, 2018). Later,
Graham (1988)
transferred
Chaetochlamys rusbyi
to
Justicia
(as
Justicia rusbyi
) and mentioned “
Type:
Bolivia
, Rusby 1117 (
isosyntype
BM)
”. Graham’s treatment was followed by Wasshausen & Wood (2004), who pointed out that all the
syntypes
are destroyed and only the
isosyntypes
are extant at BM,
US
and NY. However, the
lectotype
has not yet been designated by them. As Stafleu and Cowan (1983) indicated that Lindau’s specimens were mainly deposited at B, but partly destroyed. After an exhaustive search, we traced six sheets of
Chaetochlamys rusbyi
; one each at BM, F, K,
US
(BM000617757, F0077571F, K000529479,
US
00137245) and two at NY (NY00038824, NY00049762), whereas the
syntype
was not found anywhere. Among the materials traced, five sheets belong to the collection of
“Rusby 1117”
and remaining one belongs to
Kuntze s.n.
The duplicate of Rusby’s collection kept at BM (BM000617757) is selected here as the
lectotype
according to Art. 9.3 & 9.12 of ICN (Turland
et al.
, 2018).
