Remarks.
This is an Oriental species imported into many countries during various biological control programs. It was released in California from
1906 through 1952
(primarily for control of
Aonidiella aurantii
); the earliest importations failed, but the species finally became established in California in the mid-1920s (
Rosen & DeBach 1978
). This species was also introduced into Hawaii for control of several species, including
Saissetia coffeae
, even though it has never been demonstrated that this species is acceptable host (
Funasaki
et al.
1988
).
