Elaphoglossum hystrix
(Kunze) T.Moore, Index Fil.
10. 1857.
Range:
—
Peru
and
Bolivia
(LP, SC).
Ecology:
—Common; epiphytic in humid forests;
1450–2200 m
.
Notes:
—Recognized by dark stem scales and linear-elliptic leaves with attenuate to less frequently cuneate laminar bases. The blade scales are very short, ca.
1.5 mm
long, and distributed on costae, surfaces, and margins. Those of the margins are strongly subulate and ascending, thereby distinguishing this species from
E. kessleri
(with flattish marginal scales). A few capitate-glandular hairs and numerous microscales are also present among the subulate scales of sterile blades.
