Diagnosis
: Male antenna 1 article 1 with 1–2 robust setae on proximal dorsomedial margin and 2 proximal robust setae on ventral margin. Female antenna 1 article 1 with 1–2 proximal and 1 distal robust setae on ventral margin. Male antenna 2 article 4 ventrodistal margin with 2 strong acute process, peduncular article 5 with 1 acute process on distal margin and 1 strong roudend process on medial ventral margin. Female antenna 2 pediform; article 2 with 2 robust setae on ventral margin; articles 3 and 4 with 2 robust setae and 1 seta on ventral margin; flagellum short. Gnathopod 2 with a small tooth on flexor margin. Urosomites 1–3 fused, with distinct lateral marginal notch. Uropod 1 inserted ventrally.
Remarks.
This genus is easily distinguishable from all others genera of
Corophiidae
by the presence of a median notch in the lateral ridge of the fused urosome and gnatopod 2 flexor margin with one tooth. Differences in the number of robust setae of peduncles articles of antennae and the absence of robust setae on ventral margin of article 4 of the antenna 2 peduncle, were observed in our specimens, in comparison of Shoemaker’s description. But the presence of the well-developed ventromedial acute process on antenna 2 of male, the position of medial and distal process of article 5, diagnostic characteristic of this species are considered to be sufficient to be recognized our specimens as
L. baconi
