Southern Transkei (Dwesa) to False Bay; living shallow subtidal to 38 m . Notes. This species has an extensive synonymy, the details of which were provided by Herbert ( 1993 ) . On the premise that Anton’s type material was lost, Herbert ( 1993 : 274 ) designated a neotype for this species ( NMSA S 9315 /T 889 ). Anton’s collection, however, is not lost and is housed in the MTD ( Schniebs 1996 ) and it includes the holotype of Trochus miniatus . As a result Herbert’s neotype designation must be set aside.
