FIGURE 2. Isotype of Pogonia aphylla Barb.Rodr. deposited at the RB herbarium. Notes:— Barbosa Rodrigues (1882) designated as holotype of Pogonia aphylla the specimen Schwacke 72, collected in the state of Paraná , Brazil , which is deposited in the herbarium of the Museu Nacional do Rio de Janeiro (R). The label of a duplicate in the herbarium of the Jardim Botânico do Rio de Janeiro (RB) shows the collection number as Schwacke 2510 (II 72) . However, another label, below that one, explains that 2510 is the registration number of the herbarium Schwacke and 72 is the collection number. Therefore, this specimen is here accepted as an isotype of Pogonia aphylla . Schwacke 72 was used to prepare the illustration published by Barbosa Rodrigues in Iconographie des orchideés du Brésil 1: t. 33A, which is deposited in the Library of the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden, cited as “Tab. 727” in Barbosa Rodrigues (1881:269) and copied and reproduced by Sprunger et al. (1996: 86) .
