Discussion.
The taxon requires further scrutiny. It seems quite possible, that several species are mixed up under the name
Arge rustica
. Currently about 10 nominal taxa are treated as synonyms of
A. rustica
. Recent results of COI barcoding show four different clusters for specimens identified as
A. rustica
. Referring to
Konow (1899)
, the taxon was after its description only mentioned by
Schedl (2009
, for
Syria
) and in synonymy lists of catalogs. However, even if the locality Akbés in the late 19
th
and early 20
th
century has been associated with “
Syria
” in the historical sense, it belongs today to
Turkey
.
