The females of
Tonsilla
can be easily recognized by the large epigynal atrium, epigynal teeth situated anteriorly, and the large copulatory ducts, while the males can be recognized by the long patellar apophysis, a short cymbial furrow, and the bifurcate (or lobed) conductor. Chelicerae of both sexes with three promarginal and two retromarginal teeth (

considered this genus as the sister group of
Pireneitega
Kishida, 1955
, but
Zhao & Li (2017)
placed it as the sister group of
Himalcoelotes

.
