[New
lectotype
designation].
Junior subjective synonymy.
Centris minuta
lectotype
(♂,
Figs 5–8
): A single male labeled “
Mexico
” [printed], “262 / 376.”, “85” [green label], “
minuta
/ det.
Friese 1898
[printed] / Mocs.” is here designated as the
lectotype
. An additional male specimen labeled “Säo Paulo /
Brasilia
[printed]”, “908 / 10.” is designated
paralectotype
, while a third female specimen from “Piauchy,
Brasilia
” is not considered from the
type
series. The collecting and
type
locality cannot be further narrowed down than to
Mexico
, from where it is reported from many states (
Moure
et al
. 2007
). According to the HNHM accession book (entry 262/376) the specimen was collected by Imre (or Emerich) Verebélyi who sent 82 Mexican
Hymenoptera
specimens to HNHM in 1868 (
Mocsáry 1902
). We have been unable to locate the area of
Mexico
from where Verebélyi collected. The
lectotype
of
C
.
minuta
corresponds to the previously established senior synonymy,
C
.
analis
(synonymy proposed in Moure 1960).
