Diagnosis
Frons with formation of poorly developed interocular tubercles between eyes. Pronotum mesoanteriorly with bituberculated stucture, almost bidentade, with width equal to half the interocular width. Aedeagus in dorsal view, parameres elongated and with twisted base, greatly separated; in side view, the parameres are concave and extend beyond the posterior margin (
Figure 10
(d), (e), (f)).
Type material.
The
type
series is deposited at BMNH. It was possible to analyse the material during the curator’s stay at the BMNH in Cuiabá; photos of the specimens were taken during this period.

Redescription
Body size
: Length:
5.74–8.45 mm
. Width:
4.44–6.10 mm
.
Head
: Frons with interocular tubercles between eyes, not connected by transverse carina; region between the tubercles almost flat and with deep points.
Pronotum
: Pronotum mesoanteriorly with little elevated tubercle, almost bidentate, which can be more or less developed; depression marked by points behind the tubercle. Disc with sparse points, unevenly distributed.
Male terminalia
: In dorsal view, parameres elongated and with twisted base, greatly separated (
Figure 10
(d)); In lateral view, the parameres are concave and extend beyond the posterior margin (
Figure 10
(f)).
Sexual dimorphism
: Males have weak, almost imperceptible punctuation and the setae are absent in the clypeus; well developed frons tubercle, while females have up to four setae in the posterior region of the clypeus and the rough and carenaded surface; underdeveloped frons tubercles.
Remarks:
Arrow (1913)
described the species based on a series collected in
Bahia
, by Alexander Fry in 1860; a male specimen of the series was designated as a type.
Bacchus (1978)
provided the following information about the type series:

Differential diagnosis.
Bolbapium parcepunctatum
is morphologically similar to
B. borgmeieri
,
B. boillyi
sp. nov.
,
B. caesum
,
B. howdeni
,
B. modestum
,
B. sampaioorum
sp. nov.
and
B. santanaorum
sp. nov.
in not presenting the transverse carina forehead interconnecting the interocular tubercles. However, it is easily differentiated by presenting a bituberculated projection. In addition, it is only possible to distinguish the species from
Bolbapium santanaorum
sp. nov.
by male terminalia and geographic distribution, with
B. parcepunctatum
occurring exclusively in the northeast of the country while
B. santanaorum
sp. nov.
occurs in the Central-West region, in the north of the southern part of the country and part of the northeast.
