First faunal inventory of large branchiopods (Crustacea: Branchiopoda) of Western Maharashtra, India with taxonomical and distributional comments Author Padhye, Sameer Author Rabet, Nicolas Author Ghate, Hemant text Zootaxa 2015 3904 2 208 222 journal article 10.11646/zootaxa.3904.2.2 fb30f740-b58c-46e2-b440-667d6a2fc8e1 1175-5326 241884 676DA9F1-F2C1-44DA-ACCE-BDEAD7DBD7AF Order Laevicaudata Linder, 1945 Family Lynceidae Baird, 1845 . A species belonging to Lynceidae was reported from outskirts of Pune city, Maharashtra for the first time by Padhye et al . (2011b) but the authors could not confirm the species status. We now confirm this species to be Lynceus alleppeyensis Balaraman & Nayar 2004 which has been described earlier from South India (Kerala) ( Balaraman & Nayar 2004 ) thus extending its range by nearly 1000 km northwards ( Fig. 2 ). Characteristic traits such as the female and male rostrum, telson morphology and male claspers match with the original description ( Fig.3 : A–D).
