This group is referred to as
Heteroneuridae
in the older papers on
Diptera
. The larvae, as far as is known, feed in much decayed tree stumps and logs. There are comparatively few species known from the ludo-Australian region, but in all probability, many more will be discovered by careful collecting in proper localities.
