Therefore a single male labeled “ Mexico [printed]”, “658/50”, “23”, “87.” [green label], “ C . ♂ / atripes / det. Friese 1898 [printed] / Mocs.” is here designated as the lectotype . There is no precise locality information from the specimen labels, but Mocsáry (1899) indicated that the specimen was collected from “Praesidio” or Presidio near Mazatlán in Sinaloa, Mexico , where Alphonse Forrer ( 1836–1899 ) collected and distributed many insects ( Rasmussen 2012 ). The accession book at HNHM confirms that the specimens came to HNHM in 1883 from Forrer. The species was correctly interpreted by Snelling (1974 , 1984 ) and Moure et al . (2007) .
