Diagnosis
. Fronto-clypeus with anterior margin almost
3x
wider than distance between antennal sockets. Labrum with anterior margin rounded. Pronotum with posterior angle obtuse. Abdominal sterna VI and VII with lanterns almost as long as sternum.
Colouration
. (Fig. 6) Integument light-brown. Pronotum with disc light-brown or yellowish-brown, expansions pale yellow. Elytron with suture and outer margin pale yellow.
Head
. (
Figs. 28
, 47) Fronto-clypeus strongly depressed up to antennal sockets, anterior margin almost
3x
wider than distance between antennal sockets, slightly wider than distance between antennifers. Antenna with 33– 35 antennomeres (n= 3); antennomere III as long as pedicel, flabellum
ca.
2x
longer than antennomere III. Labrum with anterior margin rounded. Maxillary palpomere IV as long as III, at least 1/4 longer than labial palpomere III.

Thorax
. (Figs. 66, 84) Pronotum with lateral margins slightly divergent posteriad, posterior angle obtuse, not projected; setigerous punctures irregularly separeted 1–
2
x the diameter of a puncture. Hypomeron
2x
longer than high. Scutellum with lateral margins slightly convergent posteriad. Elytron enlarged toward apex; marginal costa with anterior margin projected. Mesosternum with posterior projection acute.
Abdomen
. (
Figs. 112
,
130
,
168–171
) Abdominal sternum V with posterior margin straight. Abdominal sterna VI and VII with lanterns almost as long and wide as these sterna. Abdominal sternum VIII with posterior margin straight or irregular, not medially projected. Pygidium with median lobe as wide as 4/5 posterior margin width, rounded and longer than lateral lobe, which is rudimentary; indentation between lateral lobe and median lobe weakly developed.
Terminalia:
Syntergite with lateral margins convergent posteriad; anterior and posterior margin asymmetric, anterior margin acuminate. Suture between abdominal tergites IX and X conspicuous. Abdominal sternum IX 2.5x longer than wide, lateral margins asymmetric, divergent up to 2/3 sternum length;
2x
longer than syntergite; bristled at the posterior 1/2.
Aedeagus:
Phallobase asymmetric. Parameres basally constricted, contiguous at the median 1/3, rounded apically. Phallum 1/3 longer than paramere and rounded apically, ventral plate sinuous and well-sclerotized, apex indistinct.

Remarks.
A. luciloides
differs from the other species by its pronotum with posterior obtuse angle. We propose the synonymy of
Amydetes lucioloides
Olivier 1888
and
Amydetes flavicollis
Olivier 1888
based on the study of the type-material. The
holotype
of
Amydetes flavicollis
is deposited at MNHN and bears the following labels:
Amydetes flavicollis Ern. Oliv.
[green label], Banda Orienta [
sic
] [azul label], 13 [light-brown label]. Both species were described in the same paper (
Olivier 1888
).
As
the Principle of Priority is in itself not suficient to determine which is the junior and senior synonyms, we as First Revisors (ICZN, 1999, 24º article) determine that
Amydetes flavicollis
be the junior synonym of
Amydetes lucioloides
.
