Distribution of species in Thyreocephalus guineensis group (● = T. guineensis (Bernhauer) , ▲ = T. paraferox Janák ). FIGURES 173–177 . Thyreocephalus guineensis (Bernhauer) ; 173, head and pronotum; 174, labrum; 175, male tergite 10; 176, sternite 9; 177, aedeagus. Redescription. Body length 17–19 mm ; length from anterior margin of head to posterior margin of elytra: 10– 11 mm . Dark reddish brown; elytra with a large yellow, lateral, anterior patch (Fig. 166); abdominal segment 7 completely or only on posterior third light red, segment 8 and genital segment light red. Head and pronotum and related punctation as in Figs. 167, 173; labrum as in Fig. 174 . Pronotum shorter and narrower than head, markedly dilated anteriorly, with sinuate sides. Elytra as long and wide as pronotum, with very scarcely marked humeral angles. Surface with punctation arranged in four series, two near suture, one median and one lateral. Abdomen with fine, deep and dense punctation. Male . Tergite 10 and sternite 9 of male genital segment as in Figs. 175, 176 . Aedeagus ( Fig. 177 ), very large, 3.4 mm long, oblong and proportionally narrow, with broad median lobe and long parameres; inner sac tape-like, very long, folded on itself, covered with scales. Differential diagnosis. Thyreocephalus guineensis differs from T. paraferox in elytra with large yellow lateral patch and in different shape of the aedeagus with apically rounded median lobe. Distribution. The species is distributed in Cameroon , Central African Republic , Democratic Republic of Congo , Ghana , Niger and Nigeria ( Fig. 172 ). Remarks. As the superior line of pronotal hypomeron is turning downwards well before middle, joining or almost joining inferior line next to front margin of procoxae and continuing onto anterior margin of pronotum, the species was transferred from Eulissus to Thyreocephalus .
