Pediobius facialis
species group
Diagnosis.
Body squat. In female, antenna very short and F3 considerably stout (
e.g.
,
Fig. 12
e), but in male less so (
e.g.
, 12f). Mesoscutum and scutellum finely reticulate, and more finely so in notaular depressions.
Species included.
Although there might be some confusion on the relationship among
P. facialis
,
P
.
brachycerus
and
P
.
grunini
(Nikol'skaya), we follow
Bouček (1965a)
and place them in the same species group. Besides, two Chinese species,
P
.
narangae
and
P
.
tortricida
are also included in this species group. However, instead of the "
brachycerus
-group", we call this species group as the "
facialis
-group" (ref. remarks under
P. brachycerus
).
