Ecology: —Relatively uncommon, low epiphyte or on rocks in humid forests; 400–1100 m . Notes: —This species can be recognized by the combination of long-creeping, very narrow rhizomes, elliptic blade shape and rhizome scale color and cell structure. It is closely related to C. coarctatum ; however, C. sphenodes has rhizome scales narrowly ovate ( vs . linear-lanceolate), with basal auricles equalling the scale width.
