( Figs. 1 A, 2A, 3A, 4A, B, 5A, 6A, 7A) Type material . HOLOTYPE male, labeled: MEXICO , Chiapas, Municipio Chenalhó, cerca a la Localidad La Esperanza, 14 al 17-Nov-2009 , Malaise trap, Salceda Sánchez B. & Rodríguez, A. A., cols. Specimen dissected and mounted on microscopic slide, deposited in CAIM . Three male paratypes , same data as holotype . Diagnosis . Costal cell wide; CuA1 ends before level of the apex of costa; tergite 7 with posterior margin medially produced; penis not reaching apical margin of tergite 9; tergite 9 triangular. Description . Male. Head dark brown. Eyes with interommatidial spicules; antenna with 8 flagellomeres ( Fig. 1 A) uniformly brown; first flagellomere subcylindrical, flagellomeres 2 to 7 wider than long, distal flagellomere club-shaped; flagellum length 0.53 ( 0.52–0.54 mm , n=2); palpus ( Fig. 2 A) light brown, short, with rounded apical sensory pit, length 0.05 mm (n=2); labellum light brown, short and rounded. Thorax uniformly brownish; scutum covered with short setae; anterior spiracular sclerite with 28–30 setae; anepisternum and anepimeron with scattered setae, 3 katepisternal setae. Legs brownish; femora uniformly brown; tibiae annulated, broad basal and apical pale rings on all tibiae; tarsi pale brown. Wing ( Fig. 3 A) length 1.61 mm ( 1.53–1.69 mm , n=2), width 0.76 mm ( 0.71–0.82 mm , n =2); membrane entirely densely micropilose. Anterior veins R1, Rs and R4+5 broadened and thickened, with irregularly arranged rows of short setae on dorsal surface; costal cell wide; C 0.7 of total wing length; r-m very short; fork of M slightly asymmetrical, with a weakly marked sub-basal angle on M1; M1, M2, CuA1 and CuA2 not reaching wing margin; false vein faint; CuA1 ends before apex of C; CuA2 weakly sigmoid. Halter pale brown, with 4 setae on stem. Abdomen: Sternite 7 (Fig. 4B) with shallow posterior emargination, length, 0.41 mm , width, 0.14 mm ; anterior margin of tergite 7 (Fig. 4A) concave, posterior margin medially produced, length, 0.29 mm , width, 0.15 mm . Genital capsule massive ( Fig. 5 A); gonocoxite short and robust, with pointed apex, length 0.10 mm , width 0.04 mm ; paramere ( Fig. 6 A) bearing comb of dense setae; penis elongate, sinuous subapically, length, 0.13 mm , not reaching apical margin of tergite 9; tergite 9 ( Fig. 7 A) triangular, with pair of short and strong teeth-like apical projections, length, 0.13 mm , width at base, 0.15 mm . Female. Unknown. Discussion . This species is similar to C. variatum Cook and C. bijleveldi Haenni & Rapp. C. emilianoi may be distinguished from C. variatum by the wing venation, the medially produced posterior margin of tergite 7 and the setae of the paramere. The new species is similar to C. bijleveldi in the shape of tergite 7 and male genitalia, but differs in the length of tergite 9 with respect to the length of gonocoxite (in C. bijleveldi T9 is short and does not reach the apex of gonocoxite); also in C. emilianoi CuA1 ends before level of the apex of costa (in C. bijleveldi CuA1 ends beyond level of the apex of C). Distribution . Mexico (Chiapas). Ecology . Specimens were collected using a Malaise trap, in a tropical dry forest, at the elevation of 460 m . GPS Coordinates: 92 29´55´´N; 16° 59´47´´W . Etymology . This species is named after my son, Emiliano Huerta Trujillo, for being such an inspiration in my life.
