Diagnosis.
Argyropelecus
can be distinguished in the Sternoptychinae by the eyes tubular, directed upwards; dorsal blade with several spines anterior to dorsal-fin rays; abdominal keel developed; post-abdominal spines present; AB 12; SAB 6; SP 2; PAN 4 (Baird, 1971, 1986). A total of 10 valid species (Fricke
