Despite being first recognized in southern
China
, this species is most probably native to South America and is found particularly in the more northern areas of
Brazil
, although it has been recorded in
Goiás State
on
Hancornia speciosa
(
Silva
et al
. 2019a
)
. Specimens deposited in ESALQ and referred to as a pest of rubber trees in the State of
Mato Grosso do Sul
(
Monteiro
et al
. 1999
) cannot at present be satisfactorily identified. These specimens may represent a further new species, because they exhibit character states of both
H. longisensibilis
and
H. haemorroidalis
.
