Choeras tegularis
(Szépligeti, 1905)
. Revised combination.
Microgaster tegularis
Szépligeti, 1905: 49
. Original description.
Protomicroplitis tegularis
(Szépligeti, 1905)
.
Nixon, 1965
: 235
. Revised combination.
Choeras tegularis
(Szépligeti, 1905)
.
Austin & Dangerfield, 1992
: 21
. Revised combination.
Protomicroplitis tegularis
(Szépligeti, 1905)
.
Papp, 2004
: 206. Revised combination. Papp was aware of the paper by
Austin & Dangerfield (1992)
, as he loaned the
type
of
tegularis
to them (
Papp, 2004: 206
), but without explanation transferred the species back to
Protomicroplitis
.
Protomicroplitis tegularis
(Szépligeti, 1905)
.
Yu
et al.
2012
. It is very likely that
Yu
et al.
(2012)
were merely following
Papp (2004)
. Although technically Taxapad (
Yu
et al.
2012
) is not a publication, it is a consulted and followed source by the taxonomic community.
Comments.
Because the male
holotype
is lost (
Austin & Dangerfield 1993
,
Papp 2004
) the correct identity of this species may never be established unambiguously. However, it is clear that this species is not
Protomicroplitis
, based on the illustrations of the fore wing in
Nixon (1965: Fig. 304)
, and propodeum and mediotergites
1–3 in
Austin & Dangerfield (1992:
Fig. 27
)
. I agree with
Austin & Dangerfield (1992)
that it is most likely to be
Choeras
.
