This species, reported only from Argentina ( Kaczmarek & Michalczyk 2009a ; Kaczmarek et al. 2015), belongs to Mes. harmsworthi group. Macrobiotus szeptyckii is extremely similar to Mes. tehuelchensis Rossi et al. 2009 described in the same year and from the same region, so these two species could be synonymous.
