Phylogeny of Neotropical Castniinae (Lepidoptera: Cossoidea: Castniidae): testing the hypothesis of the mimics as a monophyletic group and implications for the arrangement of the genera Author Moraes, Simeão De Souza Author Duarte, Marcelo text Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society 2014 2014-01-07 170 2 362 399 http://dx.doi.org/10.1111/zoj.12102 journal article 10.1111/zoj.12102 0024-4082 5302314 CERETES SCHAUFUSS, 1870 ( FIG. 1 ) Type species Papilio thais Drury, 1782 Included species Ceretes thais (Drury, 1782) and Ceretes marcelserres (Godart, [1824]) . Comments The species included in this genus are the only Neotropical species to show extensive sexual dimor- phism in the wing and colour pattern (12: 0). Also the cornuti, consisting of spines covering the entire vesica (40: 0), is another synapomorphic character. This genus shares some plesiomorphic attributes with the Australian species, particularly the curvature of the aedeagus.
