Remarks
.
Uroleucon
(
Uroleucon
)
altaicum
Szelegiewicz, 1962
was synonymized with
U. mulgedii
only based on description of
U. altaicum
and redescription of
U. mulgedii
without examination of
type
material of
U. altaicum
(
Holman 1991
;
Eastop & Blackman 2005
). Morphological differences between the
type
specimens of
U. altaicum
from
Mongolia
and specimens of
U. mulgedii
from
Uzbekistan
and
Bulgaria
(mostly ratios involving URS and siphunculi; see Discussion) should be treated as differences between two separate species. Taking this into account, we propose to restore the full species status of
U. altaicum
. On the basis of the pigmentation of siphunculi (pigmented with pale bases), pale coxae and cauda, poorly developed and pale sclerites and scleroites on the abdomen, we propose to transfer this species from the subgenus
Uroleucon
to subgenus
Lambersius
.
