Forewing length 20.1 mm , hindwing length 17.6 mm . Distance between ocelli ca. 1.5X as wide as diameter of ocellus. Head slightly narrower than pronotum with a dark brown stigma on anterior portion of frons; compound eyes and antennae brown ( Fig. 3A ). Pronotum with brown rugosities, wing membrane subhyaline, veins dark brown; legs dark brown but femora paler ( Fig. 3A ). FIGURE 2. Etrocorema wui sp. nov. (male). A–B. Aedeagus, lateral view; C. Aedeagus, caudal view. Terminalia . Tergum 8 with two separated patches of sensilla basiconica ( Fig. 3B ). Hemitergal lobes finger-like, strongly curved upward and extend to posterior margin of tergum 9, apex obtuse, inner margin was covered with sensilla basiconica ( Fig. 3B ). Sternum 6 with a median patch of strong setae ( Fig. 3C ). Aedeagus membranous and tube-like, curved ventrally, with few spinules; subapex cylindrical, apex heart-shaped with irregular fine spines ( Figs. 3D–E ). FIGURE 3. Material examined. Distribution. The species is only known from Hainan Island, China . Remarks. Our specimen from Yinggeling National Nature Reserve, Hainan Island, clearly agrees well with the original description (see figs. 310–311 in Wu, 1938 ) and the March collection of the holotype . In the studied specimens, patches of sensilla basiconica on tergum 7 were separated while the patch was undivided in the holotype (see figs. 310–311 in Wu, 1938 ) which is thought to be intraspecific variation. Given the close match with the original description and the loss of the holotype specimen, we designate a neotype to solidify the concept of the species. This species is similar to E. yunnanensis and E. wui , which was mentioned above. We provide color figures of adult male of the neotype to help identify this species. The neotype’s entire mitochondrial genome was sequenced in 2019 and its Genbank accession number is MK905888 ( Liu et al . 2019 ).
