Diagnosis
.
Hypatopa huayingshana
is distinguished by having the gnathos straight on the posterior margin and the costal process of the valva acutely angled before middle on the outer margin. This species is similar to
H. weibaoshana
in the male genitalia, and the differences between them are given under the diagnosis of
H. weibaoshana
.
Description
. Forewing length
6.5–8.5 mm
(
Fig. 5
). Head pale grayish brown on frons, pale yellow on vertex. Antenna with scape brown on dorsal surface except some scales tipped with grayish white, grayish white on ventral surface; pecten brown; flagellum with dorsal surface dark brown and becoming paler from base to apex, ventral surface grayish white and ciliated in male. Labial palpus with outer surface dark brown mixed with grayish brown, some scales tipped with grayish white, inner surface grayish white; third segment about 2/3 length of second, grayish white apically. Haustellum grayish brown. Thorax and tegula brown, except some scales tipped with grayish white. Forewing brown, with grayish white tipped scales from near base to basal 1/3; discal and discocellular spots dark brown; plical spot indistinct; fringe grayish brown. Hindwing and fringe grayish brown. Legs with dorsal surface grayish white; ventral surface dark brown, some scales tipped with grayish white; all tibiae and tarsomeres grayish white at apex.
Male genitalia
(
Fig. 13
). Uncus subtriangular, wide at base, narrowed to a rounded apex, slightly curved ventrad, sparsely setose. Gnathos with posterior margin straight, notched medially, obtriangular anteriorly. Dorsal part of valva with costal process nearly straight, acutely angled before middle on outer margin, then almost uniformly wide to rounded apex, from costa widened ventrad to proximal flange; proximal flange subovoidal, with sparse spines along ventral margin, its inner surface with dense microtrichiae on dorsal 1/3 and with setae on ventral 2/3. Ventral part of valva with basal 5/7 broad, subovoidal; distal process clubbed, bent inward, sparsely setose on outer surface, flat and smooth on inner surface; sacculus wide at base, gradually narrowed to terminal, bearing sparse long setae along distal 3/4 of ventral margin. Juxta a transverse band, deeply U-shaped medially on posterior margin. Vinculum a narrow band. Phallus slightly shorter than valva, straight, wide at base, gradually narrowed from base to blunt apex; internal sclerite curved dorsad near base and curved ventrad at distal 2/5; anellus with distal 3/5 bearing cone-like setae.
Female genitalia
(
Fig. 21
). Apophyses posteriores approximately 3 times length of apophyses anteriores. Eighth tergum with a darkly pigmented longitudinal median streak. Intersegmental membrane posterior to seventh segment bearing microtrichiae around ostium. Seventh tergum straight on posterior margin, sternum broadly concave on posterior margin. Ductus bursae nearly as long as corpus bursae; internal wall with overlapping platelets on anterior half and becoming denser anteriorly; ductus seminalis arising from posterior 2/7 of ductus bursae. Corpus bursae obovate, with dense granules; signum at posterior 1/4 of corpus bursae, rounded, with a small subrectangular process from its anterior margin.

locality, Mt. Huaying (= Huaying- shan).
