The genus is distributed throughout the Afrotropical, Oriental and Palaearctic Regions (
Krajcik 2008a
).
Antoine (2006)
recognized four subgenera, providing an identification key for them. In the Afrotropical Region there are sixteen recognized species within two subgenera (
Eucampsiura
Mikšić, 1987
and
Macroma
Gory & Percheron, 1833
) (
Schoolmeesters 2019
). There is one species in the subgenus
Macroma
recorded for
Guinea-Bissau
(
Brivio 1958
).
