Type species: Chaetoderma raduliferum Kowalevsky, 1901 (monotypy). Diagnosis: Sclerites adpressed, parallel to longitudinal body axis on trunk and posterium or only on posterium. Planes of sclerite base and blade flat, or blade slightly curved towards body ( Fig. 17J ); base and blade not obviously offset or at an angle to each other or rotated relative to each other. Longitudinal axis straight, isochromes symmetrical or nearly so. Waist indentation shallow, sometimes indistinct. Blade with short or long medial keel, edges straight or more usually convex, blade width about same width as base at waist. Oral shield sclerites in two rows. Distribution: Eastern and western north and south Atlantic including south of Iceland , Mediterranean Sea, Arabian Sea, eastern and western Pacific, continental shelf to continental rise, 50 to 2,895 m depth ( Kowalevsky 1901 , Scheltema 1985 , Salvini-Plawen 1997 , Scheltema & Ivanov 2000 , Ivanov & Scheltema 2002 , Salvini-Plawen & Öztürk 2006 ; including unpublished data). Composition: P. arabicum Ivanov & Scheltema, 2002 ; P.
