Remarks.
A species new to the Bulgarian fauna.
P. inconstans
is widely distributed in Europe, from
Portugal
to
Russia
. The species has also been introduced into North America (
Hoffman 1999
). A more detailed distribution can be found in
Kime & Enghoff (2011)
.
P. inconstans
is common in anthropogenic habitats, such as parks, gardens, cultivated ground and landfills (
Kime & Enghoff 2011
).
Having only a single specimen collected and taking into consideration the large distributional gap between the west-central European and Bulgarian populations, it is highly probable that the species was introduced into the country. Thus far,
P. inconstans
has not been found in the rest of the Balkan Peninsula, and is also missing in
Romania
,
Hungary
,
Slovakia
and most of
Austria
.
