(original citation). Syntype(s) in MCZ [# 635]. Etymology. The specific name honors Charles Wilkes [1798-1877], American naval officer and explorer who commanded the United States Exploring Expedition (1838-1842), commonly known as the Wilkes Expedition. The expedition included naturalists who brought back entomological specimens.
Distribution.
This species is found west of the Rocky Mountains from south-central British Columbia south to
"California"
(Lindroth 1961a: 54).
