Previously recorded from Madagascar by Bruce (1977c , 1978a ). The association of (i) with sponges is probably accidental. Distribution Type locality: Ternate , Indonesia . Also known from Kenya, Zanzibar, Tanzania, Madagascar, Seychelles , Maldives , Chagos Islands , Thailand , Malaya, Singapore, China, Japan, Philippines, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea , Australia ( Western Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland ), Caroline Islands , New Caledonia , and Marshall Islands .
