Theognete caviventris Anderson , new species ( Figures 6 , 59 , 64 , 68 ) Diagnosis . Size. Length, male, 4.05–4.61mm ; female, 3.99–4.66mm . Width, male, 2.25–2.70mm ; female, 2.02–2.53mm . As for T. denticulata except elytra with disk convex, not flattened, and with striae not impressed; abdomen with ventrite 1 sloping anteriad but not impressed or tuberculate, ventrite 5 with pair of large basal punctures and median row of 4 smaller punctures, the middle 2 confluent and appearing as a transverse impression, no apical excavation; hind tibiae without teeth. Aedeagus as in Fig. 64 . Geographical distribution . México ( Hidalgo , Puebla , Querétaro , San Luis Potosí ), the most extensive range of any Theognete species . Natural history . Collected from berlese extraction of cloud forest and mixed oak forest leaf litter at elevations ranging from 1050–1700m ; one specimen taken on wood chips of cut oak. Derivation of specific name . Named from the Latin cavu , meaning hole, and venter , meaning belly, in reference to the deeply excavated mesosternum and metasternum.
