Theognete montana Anderson , new species ( Figures 8 , 149 , 184 , 219 ) Diagnosis. Size. Length, male, 3.85–4.78mm ; female, 3.65–4.75mm . Width, male, 2.14–2.70mm ; female, 1.80–2.53mm . Pronotum strongly cordate, with scales suberect to erect, clumped at anterolateral margin and on either side of midline at midlength; distinct glabrous areas present. Elytra elongate, longer than wide, sides subparallel for greater part of length, scales simple, erect, not arched or recurved at apex, variously clumped in multiple rows over elytral disk; strial regions with distinct, long, fine, hair-like scales but striae not impressed. Lateral area of elytra with striae clearly indicated by linearly arranged, fine, hair-like scales, posterolateral area of elytra with a series of contiguous, individually indistinct punctures. Abdominal ventrite 5 impresssed apically in female, not so in male. Aedeagus as in Fig. 184 . Geographical distribution . México ( Chiapas ). Natural history . Collected from berlese extraction of cloud forest and wet oak forest leaf litter at elevations of 2700–2910m . Derivation of specific name .
