Synonymy not clarified without doubt. Habitus Incomplete: two pairs of legs are not completely preserved. Remarks Some sources claim that the first description of Mantis japonica was published by Saussure in 1871. In fact, the first description of this species was written in the publication of 1869. In the 1871 published “ Mélanges Orthoptérologiques ” Saussure describes not only the species in general but the individual specimen that can be found in the type collection of the ZMH.
