Species recognition. This species is most easily separated from others with a spinuli-filled concavity by the dark short, somewhat inflated palpus, the brown halter, and the relatively large, rounded basal area of white membrane (

). It was originally described from a specimen with one hind tibial seta, but many more specimens lack such setae.
