Primary appendage consisting of a somewhat flattened basal cell giving rise to an inner antheridial branch and a simple outer branch. Inner branch formed by an elongated main cell ( Fig. 55A–B , *) bearing on the outside a row of sessile antheridia or simple branchlets supporting antheridia.
