Valid name: Crocidura hirta Peters, 1852 Syntypes : ZMB 668, male, skin, skull; ZMB 669, gravid female, skin, skull. Both specimens were collected by W. Peters from Tette, Mozambique between 1843 and 1847 . Comments: Peters (1852, p. 81), noted three specimens ( 1 male and 2 females , one of which was gravid). The non-gravid female does not appear to be in the ZMB collection.
