Myrmozercon titan
(
Berlese, 1902
)
Myrmonyssus titan
Berlese, 1902
: 171
.
Diagnosis.
Body length 1320. Legs long, legs I about three quarters length of body, slightly longer than legs IV. Host: unknown.
Remarks.
This species was provided with a rudimentary description by
Berlese (1902)
, but unlike the other species he described, it received no further detailed examination. From photographs and measurements of the
type
specimen provided by Dr Roberto Nannelli (slide 170/5), if this is a species of
Myrmozercon
, then it is a member
Myrmozercon
sensu lato
because of its large legs.
Myrmozercon titan
is a very large species (body length 1320) and no other species of
Myrmozercon
exceeds
1 mm
. No more is discernible from the photographs beyond these basic features.
