Comments.
After the examination of
Eumecomera obscura
(
LeConte, 1854
)
, the
type
species of genus
Eumecomera
Arnett, 1951
, as well as two other species occurring in the Nearctic Region, no differences between this genus and the genus
Diasclera
Reitter, 1913
from the Palaearctic Region were observed, so a new subjective synonym is proposed here. A diagnosis of
Diasclera
was given by
Švihla (1986)
and, following the inclusion of the Nearctic species, no essential characteristics need to be changed, except for the shape of parameres: in fact, the apical teeth can be absent. The genus
Diasclera
is distributed discontinuously in the Holarctic Region (see below the list of species), with a distribution that parallels that of
Nacerdes
, subgenus
Xanthochroa
Schmidt, 1846
. The Nearctic species of
Diasclera
were revised by
Arnett (1951)
, and the Palaearctic ones were reviewed and discussed by
Švihla (1986
,
1999
).
