Habitat: Coral reef, on a Gorgonian, soft clay with sand, hard clay, 15–51 m ( Mortensen 1940 ). Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman : Bushehr (2), Qeshm Island (10), Khoor Mousa (30), Bandar-Imam (31) (ibid.). Indian Ocean: Red Sea ( Clark & Rowe 1971 ). Remarks: This species may have been misidentified by Mortensen (1940) and confused with Ophiothela venusta ( Peyghan et al. 2018 ) . It has not been found since Mortensen’s (1940) record and it is therefore unclear if the species occurs in the study area.
