M. Clark 1965: 63–64 . Ophiurodon Matsumoto, 1915: 86 . Ophiurodon sp.— Mortensen 1940: 100 . Habitat: Coral-gravel and shells, 33 m ( Mortensen 1940 ). Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman : Stiffe’s Bank (28) (ibid.). Indian Ocean: n/a Remarks: Ophiurodon was synonymized with Ophioconis by A. M. Clark (1965) . Mortensen (1940) stated that his single specimen was in such a poor condition that he could not identify the species. Assuming that his generic identification was correct, this is the only record of Ophioconis from the Persian Gulf. Three species of Ophioconis are known from the Indian Ocean, O . permixta ( Clark 1965 ) , O . cincta and O . cupida ( Clark & Rowe 1971 ) , although O . permixta may be conspecific with O . cincta ( Clark 1965 ) .
