Recognition characters:
Blackish species; length
5–7 mm
; mystax white; thorax gray pollinose, pilosity less dense than preceding setae on abdominal segment 1 only; wings brown; legs black, setae and bristles white on femora and tibiae, black on tarsi.

Ethology:
Rests on and forages from tips of dead branches of mountain mahogany 0.6–

above the ground.
